BLS Provider & Renewal (Healthcare Provider Adult & Pediatric CPR) Brief

Fee $75 per person

  • The Provider course is for those that don't have a current BLS card, or prefer to take the full course

Heartcode Skills Session for BLS Online Brief

Fee $47.50 per person

  • This course combines online self-study by completing the AHA didactic & simulations online, followed by a skills session with an AHA instructor

  • Can be taken by professionals with or without a current ACLS card

Heartcode BLS Online Requirements

  • Obtain access key(s) from AHA’s online store

  • Online part must be completed prior to scheduled class, includes written exam

  • Certificate of completion for online part required to attend skills checkoff, must submit prior to skills session

  • Attend live skills session with a BLS instructor

  • Review and practice as needed

  • Two skill tests

  • Adult 1- and 2-rescuer CPR and AED

  • Infant 1- and 2-rescuer CPR

BLS PROVIDER COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

PROVIDER AND RENEWAL CLASSES

The AHA’s BLS Provider Course reflects science and education from the 2020 Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC. It teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in both prehospital and in-facility environments, with a focus on high-quality CPR & team dynamics.

In the INSTRUCTOR-LED COURSE, students participate in classroom simulated clinical scenarios and learning stations. Students work with an AHA BLS Instructor to complete BLS skills practice and skills testing. Students also complete a written exam. 

COURSE TIME/FORMAT

  • Full BLS Provider Course takes approximately 4.5 hours to complete, including written exam, skills practice and skills testing

  • BLS Renewal Course takes approximately 2.5-3 hours to complete, including written exam, skills practice and testing 

TOPICS

  • High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants

  • The AHA Chain of Survival, specifically the BLS components

  • Use of an AED

  • Effective ventilations using a barrier device

  • Importance of teams in multirescuer resuscitation and performance as an effective team member during multirescuer CPR

  • Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants

ONLINE CLASS -- "HEARTCODE BLS"

Students will learn single-rescuer and team basic life support for adults, children and infants through online interactive exercises, scenarios and a written test. Navigation controls allow students to move easily through content as they learn how to recognize life-threatening emergencies, provide high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilation and provide early use of an AED. Course also teaches relief of choking. The required BLS Provider Manual is included as an eBook.

  • Course Format: Blended Learning

  • The online portion of HeartCode BLS can be completed in approximately 1 to 2 hours. Time to complete the hands-on session varies from ~2 hours.
